Granny’s Garden celebrates one women’s dedication to a community garden in her local park. It engages the young reader in the story of organic gardening while teaching the value of friendship and community involvement. Told in the voice of her young granddaughter, Granny passes on the joys of gardening and neighborliness to the next generation.  

About the Author

Susan Schenck Izard is an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ and a spiritual director. She is the coauthor of Knitting Into the Mystery: A Guide to the Shawl-Knitting Ministry, a mother, and a grandmother. She loves to garden, take long walks with her husband and beloved dachshund, Ollie, and read stories to her grandchildren.

About the Illustrator

Carroll Semmes Schenck works as an artist and teaching artist in her art studio and at her local art museum. She has an MFA from the New York Academy of Art and specializes in illustration, fine art, and caricature posters she calls “Carriecatures.” Carroll is a mother and also loves to garden.
